Is Wedding Videography Worth It?

Is it worth it to have a wedding videographer?

Yes.

I’m biased, of course, wedding videography is my business and livelihood, but I wouldn’t have invested 7 years and counting into a business I didn’t believe in.

So, why is wedding videography worth it?

As a medium, video is immersive and dynamic. It captures movement and emotions like nothing else can, and keeps those moments alive. Seconds can feel like minutes, and minutes can last forever. Having a film of your wedding day is as close as you can get to time-traveling back there.

Sound is recorded too - you’ll be able to hear yourself and your partner making your vows, listen back to a reading by a loved one that just sums you up, hear everyone laughing at your dad’s classic jokes, or your I Do Crew tearing up telling everyone in the room why your friendship means the world to them.

Hiring a professional means there’s an extra pair of eyes too. During afternoon drinks, I’m a fly on the wall capturing friends and family interacting, catching up, playing garden games. You can’t be everywhere at once, and having a videographer helps you see more of your day.

Everyone always says how quickly the day goes, and it really does, and a lot of a wedding day is ephemeral. Videography captures the atmosphere, those fleeting moments as well as the big ones. It will preserve your wedding day for yourselves and those you choose to share it with. Your wedding day is about you, of course, and it’s also about those who you’ve surrounded yourself with. Just like we look at old family photos and home videos, your wedding films could become part of your family legacy, something that holds value for generations ahead. A wedding film is something that gets better with time. Memories become cherished, and your wedding videography can transport you back to those moments that felt magical.

Not having a wedding videographer is often quoted as the most common wedding regret.

If you’re on the fence, let’s chat! I was once booked just 13 hours before I started filming by a couple that made a last-minute decision for video, so don’t be shy about capturing one of the best days of your life.
